Mesoamerican - Tee

$30.00

Conquering the Conquistador!

T-shirt design inspired by statues of Tecun Uman, a K'iche' Mayan king from the mountains of what is now Guatemala, who died in battle defending his people from Spanish Conquistadors in 1524.*

This illustration represents solidarity with my neighbors, wherever they may be from; and to all who resist oppression, denounce colonialism, and who seek peace and dignity.

Wear this shirt to keep warm and melt the ice.

Formerly only available on white tees, now re-released on black! Screen-printed by hand in red and beige discharge inks** on black 100% ringspun cotton Bella+Canvas T-shirts. See picture for size chart.

*Artist's note: The imagery used in this piece is intentionally anachronistic and purposefully conflates some imagery of ancient Mesoamerican nations of Central America. These are intended as homages to these cultures, and presenting them together here is merely an artist's interpretation. For example, the Sun Wheel and snake-devouring eagle are predominantly Aztec symbols, while the carven figures of Quetzalcoatl and the hieroglyphs spelling "Tecun Uman" are Mayan.

**Be advised: Ink color may vary slightly from the image on your screen, as every computer/phone/tablet display is different, and each print run requires ink to be mixed and prepared manually.

All of my products are hand-printed by me or by small businesses in the USA.
